Hoewel de behandelopties voor hereditair angio-oedeem (HAE) de afgelopen jaren aanzienlijk zijn toegenomen, blijft het veld nog volop in ontwikkeling. Nieuwe therapieën beloven het behandellandschap in de (nabije) toekomst verder te transformeren. In dit artikel worden de huidige behandelopties toegelicht en wordt ingegaan op de meest recente innovaties. Daarnaast belicht dr. Remy Petersen (Amsterdam UMC) het klinisch beeld en de behandeling van HAE en deelt ze belangrijke resultaten uit haar promotieonderzoek naar bradykinine-gemedieerd angio-oedeem.
