Op 22 maart 2016 promoveerde mw. drs. J. Suurmond aan de Universiteit Leiden op het proefschrift getiteld: ‘Immune regulation by mast cells’. Het onderzoek werd verricht op de afdeling Reumatologie van het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum onder begeleiding van prof. dr. R.E.M. Toes en prof. dr. T.W.J. Huizinga. De belangrijkste bevindingen van het proefschrift staan hieronder beschreven.
